Maaco Paint
Hey guys,
I've heard people say bad things about Maaco, but I don't plan on painting my whole car, I just want to color match my side skirts, front lip, and moldings, possibly my mirrors. Would you trust Maaco? I'm not sure how much this would cost at a body shop, but I know it'd be pretty cheap at Maaco. Its better than a rattlecan job, right? lol.. Thanks for your input.

A Maaco job will look decent for about a year generally speaking, but kiss it goodbye by 2 years. So if you have fiberglass pieces go for it cause youll probably destroy them before then HEHE j/k. I have seen their work in person. After 15 to 18months (sometimes sooner depending on where you live and what your car is exposed to) it will be faded or cracking etc... Not a good thing

I saw some examples of their work and it was unbelievably horrible... I couldn't believe they can stay in business with work like that.
it doesnt look that bad up close, it looked alot better then the fading paint that came before it. i had some idiots paint my car though, on my front bumper while it was drying it looked like someone walked by and there pants brushed up on it. so like half my bumper was rough. then there was some scratches from them taking the molding off. i had some chips after a few days of driving. it also didnt look like they put enough paint on, i had spots like kinda looked like a red and black cow. i wasnt very satisfied with the job they did. if you have the extra money bring it to a reputable shop and not maaco.
honestly at first it wasnt that bad cause i did all the prep... but now i notice small inperfetions in the paint and it annoys the hell out of me. but i have a 4 year warranty and if im unsatisfied they fix the problem. like the guy said up above you get what you pay for. my car is gonna get repainted but not soon so this was the reasonable thing to do. but paint is something youd ont want to half *** on cause its something your gonna look at everyday. id say do it right the first time and spend extra time prepping it and look into where your taking it or dont do it at all.

I agree with all you say but that. Some people take pride in their work and others are just highly skilled. But the paint that maaco uses from what I gather is sub-standard to even cheap paint.
So it may look killer at first (if your lucky) but in the long run it wont hold up.
I went to a local macco to get a quote on a project. and they seem resonable. I looked at some of thier work and it was ok..not show quality but better than Earl Sheib. I say if you dont have a fairly straight car and at least $1500. You will have a hard time getting a perfect paint job. My advice is aske your self these questions. How long will I own is this car for? Will my car need a new engine or any spendy maitnence soon? Do I park in parking lots or in an apt where other car doors always seem to kiss mine? If you answered yes to that last one definatley see Macco its not worht getting a bad *** paint job to have others ruin it.
i had my crx painted by the local maaco in november, i got it painted 2001 phoenix yellow, the paint still looks good everywhere, but it is chipping off on both sides underneath where the doors open
