ok im not too sure wether i keep the screw holes on the bottom of the grill peice, what do I have to cut off, and what do i have to leave?
Hey. Here's a little cliffnotes version:
1. Remove 5 clips on top of grill
2. Using a knife of some sort, cut the center black pieces out on the edges. Now you should have the inside of it hollowed out.
3. Now you have to cut all the black tabs that are remaining and trim all other uneccessarary little black pieces of plastic so that the inner border of your grill is smooth and no tabs. (Just be sure not the cut the tabs that hold the bottom part of the grill in.
4. Leave the black part with the screws in. DO NOT THROW AWAY
5. Sand down all the surfaces you cut off black plastic from to make it smooth.
6. Clean the grill.
7. Go to Home Depot in the landscape section and pick up some gutter guard (1.40 a piece-which is enough for your grill)-PAINT BLACK.
8. Cut it to size and bend it so it fits nicely in the grill (trial and error-bascically just keep cutting the mesh grill little by little but not too much.
9. Bend the mesh into place behind the grill and if you want, use something to attatch it. (I just bent it real well and kind of tucked it around the remaining tabs on my grill.
10. Put the mesh and grill back on and pop the 5 clips on the top in. The mesh WILL stay put if you put it in there right.
11. Done.
