I'm not talking about the donut connecting the downpipe to the cat/testpipe but the flat silver metal gasket on the cylinder head where the header primaries bolt up to.

Me personally I haven't replaced it since I had my car from '97.... I must of had the header on and off over a dozen times.....

but lately I've been smelling fumes.... might be best to get a new one.....

Anybody experience leakage?

 

I know I've taken mine off numerous times doing this and that and just keep popping it back on No problems yet.....

When i bought my spoon header, one came w/ it. so i replaced it.

I was happy to replace it anyway since the evil stock one gave me a pretty deep cut

 

Might as well replace it, it's only $15 at the part store.

 

As long as you torque that bitch evenly...shouldnt leak...

what is the tq for the header bolts?? helms didnt say...

 

If I remember correctly it's pretty low, maybe 20-30 ft/lbs.

 

it's 23 actually..... committed that to memory...unless...oh ****..
