I have Type S cams.. hehe But you can also use Skunk 2's, Crower, JUN, and also TODA I believe..

 

Skunk2's are great, but I have had problems with Jun's in the H22 before. But I did hear that Jun is going to be releasing a whole engine package for the H22 pretty soon. I includes pistons, rods, cams, gears, retainers, springs, valves, head gasket, and some other miscellaneous goodies that they wouldn't tell me about. They just said that all motor its supposed to push between 260 to 270 whp all motor. That's pretty insane, but you know the price will be extremely steep.

Anyone else? I'm extremely curious what kidna #'s cams put down on an otherwise basically stock engine, with a VAFC for tuning. Which is best bang for the buck? Anyone ever heard of GUDE cams? (bullfrog) http://www.gude.com

 

Thats just the thing. Since the h22 motors arent seen as the norm you dont really have a lot of people/shops trying out different configurations out there. So there is no real indefinately proof of what works well and what sucks a$$..

And you know you cant always believe the hype on most of these sites because either they are very hard to verify. So as for cams and such I would suggest going with what most people have used and doing alot of research. I know that Skunk 2's work well. As well as some other cam profiles out there, but again such proof is very limited in nature..

 

yes i agree with the KIDD, eveytime i try to get some type of comparison from one company to the other all thell do is bash the other guy. I mean you cant even begin to ask about ramp speeds or duration specs how long they "really" last (JG Regrinds 1 week tops) Whose blanks they use blah blah blah. You know this really sucks. I want some good cams, like b18c with toda C's or god willing D's. But i have a feeling this isnt going to happen. I wonder what Lookofsky was using when his car was runin 11's (11.89) i mean that was perfect if it was streetable. But u guys know what Im gettin at. Any dynos would be sweeet.

Yeah, companies dog other companies way too much without expressing why their cams are actually better. Although, the reason why I said Skunk2 is because I've had a few sets back in my GSR days, and I have done plenty of work on cars that have been running them for quite some time now as well. Back in the day, Skunks had a tendency to break. Since then, the design as well as the method of production has changed. They are a billet chillcast design which makes the cam stronger, as well as retains better lubrication to reduce friction. Although their profiles might be similar in comparison to some other cams, I still think they are the best bang for the buck for long term driveability and reliablity. I am still contemplating the Skunks for the H22, because since they are new on the market, I'm waiting to see how everything turns out and to see if anything changes.

 

you know weve been using the lost motion assy for the type R in the b18c we do and thank god we havent had them break. I have type s in the lude now, and im thinking about going with web regrinds, just becuase regrinds dont break and i have heard some horror stories about billet, then again WEb was saying as long as we keep the type s LMA it well be fine with their JUN knock offs. When i asked if their ramp speeds were comparable to stock, they were like ramp speed what. But im sure it was just the person i was talking to that didnt know. anyways. i guess this is a dead issue for now.
