Default place racing cross member

does anyone know if the place racing cross member is as good as the z10 or jim fab? does the place racing decrease wheel hop and increase 60's like the z10 and jimfab? thanks

I'd say, you get what you pay for. $190 for place vs $500 for Z10. I have a Place Racing crossmember and I just bought it to fit my jdm header. It minimized the wheel hop a bit and I noticed better high speed handling (more stable) compared to my hammered down stock crossmembers. Rate from 1 to 10, I'd give it a 5 for performance. *front mount didnt work either because I'm using Hasports and they're half an inch taller.

The place racing unit does not have the ability to add preload to the front suspension, so the only way it will decrease wheel hop and increase stability is when you compare it to a chopped up stock front crossmember. In my humble opinion, a cr-x b-series swap shouldn't be even thought about without an aftermarket front crossmember, and I humbly believe that all cr-x's need adjustable radius arms anyway, they work wonders.

mike its chris res....... sup....... I got a place racing cross. Its worth it if u need the room for a header... as far as performance? keep your stock. The z10's are supposed to be awesome but theyre $$$. Just my 2 cents.

The place unit is priced rite but in my opinion the z10 unit is better, but on the other hand the z10 unit is overpriced!!! I havent seen a jimfab unit upclose but it seems to be priced moderately and looks to also be made well. I like the units in this order z10, jimfab, place I guess it really boils down to how much you are willing to spend.

I havent gotten to see a jim fab up close yet, but it looks like it wouldnt have as much room for downpipes, but I dunno, the pics of it that I've seen arent that good either.

but place makes 2 crossmembers, what should you get for a crx w/ b16 swap and jdm header, the one with the modified radius rods that sits like an inch lower than the stock cross, or the one that fits like stock so you can use your stock radius rods?

I had a place racing crossmember brake on me! It was less then a month old and when I called them they told me to send it back and it would be 3-4 weeks till they would have another one for me! I welded it myself to get the car back on the road. Then I sold it to my brother and got a Z10. as for wheel hop the placeracing was worst then my stock crossmember.

I just got my pr cross member and I think it was well worth it, gives alot more room plus you can fit a 92-95 radiator.

I have a PR cross and I like that I have the front mount. I have noticed less wheel hop and more control.

Why would you SPECIAL ORDER a part that does less function then if you had the front mount, and if it was a SPECIAL ORDER would that cost more then a regular order, so why did you buy a crossmember that did less and cost more????

Hello, I was the one that bought the jimfab cross member without the front mount. I ordered it without the mount because I would not be using it cause I am using hasport mounts. It didnt cost me extra or anything. But if you are looking to get a Cross member, JimFab is the way to go.

3 questions: How much was the Jimfab? Who sells them? Will the front mount line up to the stock d16a6 mount? Reason being I have a d series.

The Jimfab according to his website is around $375 give or take with shipping. It's a high quality piece. I was at his shop the other day and he had a whole stack ready to go out. Alot of the locals here use his stuff because it's good quality and the price is right.

I havent seen one in person yet, but I spotted a pic last night of the JimFab bars on a cr-x, they looked stout, as fas as build quality and radiur arm positioning, they look like they could take a beating. But it also looked like they did not have as much clearance for larger downpipes like the Z-10 unit does.

EDIT, but by looking at my Z10, I feel that the added brackets that attach where the stock tow hooks are located add alot of structural integrity to the unit, more places for energy to disperse when the metal is under load. I like my z10.

jim fab is 350 shipped.. jimfab.com

place racing is 190 and they are basically a stock crossmember for more header room. you will still have wheel hop and it does not help driveabilty.. you are using stock radius rods.

Z-10 are made shitty and way over price
ffgeoff on here helped design them and he says that the jim fab is 100x better.. cuz of they radius rod placement on teh z-10 is incorrect and it fuckes up your bushing in you front end. like the lower control arms and such.. so jimfab is the way to go.

Ive met Geoff and he knows his stuff when it comes to the crossmembers. I heard the same thing about the Z10's and theyre bad radius rod placement. Ive been looking into them also and the Jimfab one seems like the best bet. I heard that Geoff might be coming out with his own crossmember pretty soon.
