Reprogrammed/New ECU's
I'd like to discuss pros/cons of each. I plan to go toda b's and know that one will be in the near future afterwards.
Some Questions:
-What additional power gains can be witnessed from the upgrade after a new ecu?
-Are preprogrammed/reprogrammed ECU's "best attempted fit" for each car's setup?
-What exactly is changed other than rev limit, are fuel curves?
-Is it worth the extra cash for a laptop-programmable unit so that all future mods can be tuned?
My setup:
AEM cai
UDpulleys
4-1 JDM header either honda,dc,or spoon (undecided)
testpipe
Also:
Pros/Cons of
-Mugen
-Mr. Yoshio
-Any others???
Thanks m8's

I have a reprogrammed Mugen N1 ECU with the Toda Spec B fuel map and vtec xover by Yoshio Kinoshita of Japanese Automotive. It works great - runs really rich - but runs/idles fine and has lots of power. Plug n'play.
God (Godspeed Motorsports) sells the same setup. I used my Mugen ECU because I already had it - all you need is a OBD I/II computer really.

You could also try the Hondata computers, they're reprogramme Honda computers.
I think they're at http://www.hondata.com

I have heard a lot of talk about the Hondata and Yoshio (sp?) ecu's. All good.
I still have to talk about the ELPrototypes ECU I have. I had it done when I had the swap done. They run about 350 or so. I must admit that I am running obd1 though. The gains I got from the ECU were outstanding. Might be worth looking into. http://www.elprototypes.com/
Good luck.

Here are opinions about reprogram ECU:
Reprogrammed ECU sure will make a difference but as I know there are a lot of ppl can't get that power as they expected. Reasons are : different engines, different temperature and humidity .....etc.
We do carry ECU programs wriiten by Yoshio according to our specs and they do work good for us but does it mean perfect??? ofcuz not, I would say if I have the car in front of Yoshio then it will be 90-95% we do programs according to customers spec but I would say it only do 80-85%.
Furthermore, it is always good to have reprogrammable ECU like Apexi but do you know how to tune it???? How much $$$$ you will spend on the dyno....... this just makes your life more harder!!!!
My point is plug n play is the easiest and most trouble free way to go!!!

Thanks for the input.
What about laptop-reprogrammable ECU's?? I know there are others besides Hondata but I researched them awhile ago, anyone know any names?

Hondata systems are excellent. I've played around with them and spoke to Doug at Hondata extensively about them. Of course they are expensive and you need a laptop to tune them but you need to tune anything really. Yoshio's ECU offers an easy plug and play solution. Does it extract every single HP off the bat? No, but it offers a great upgrade, smooth power curve and a much better staring point. Plug it in, dial in fuel a tad here and there and you're done. Power FC takes some time to tune. I love it and I'll get one as soon as it is available for the new WRX but there are many good options.
