what is needed for a sub 15 second a6?
one of my friends is trying to making his a6 a low 15 or high 14 without a turbo setup... what would you recommend if he already has I H E ?
how much does the Y8 manifold help? how difficult is a vtec head swap?

IMO nitrous doesn't count as power ... it's just a single shot of power, power is something that is always at the pedal - not some air that goes in the engine
and what is PP?

oh no kidding, is it true that port and polish is only good for so long? (people say it only flows good for about a year, then it starts to build up)
are there any websites that explain it? any advantage of the y8 head to a z6 head (other than age) ?
He was already thinking about a vtec headswap, but it seems like it would be pretty difficult

Ive been through a few different setups on a couple of different d16a6 motors.. I did the vtec head swap and it made me happy for a little, but i wasnt very impressed. Without fully converting the motor to obd-1, youre not gonna be very happy.
After bending a few valves with the vtec head, i decided to toss the project and buy another d16a6. I could never get the timing right with the Z6 head. Now Im much happier with my current setup... d16a6 w/ port n polish, webcam mild grind, intake, exhaust, dc header, and prospeed ECU.. it really suprises people how strong the little single cam is.
In my opinion, i wouldnt go with the mini-me head setup.. while its a nice addition to a tired motor, tuning options arent as impressive as to a d16a6.. headwork and bolt-ons can do wonders.

A cheaper alternative would be...
Intake, Header, Exhaust, Hi-flow cat
Y8 Intake Manifold
Y8 Headgasket
Increase fuel pressure by about 3-4 psi
If the motor has good compression, then I'm sure you'll hit low 15's... Depending on your altitude.

good clutch....crane stage 2 cam..arias or je high compression pistons...5 angle valve job..oh and to match the cam maybe a new final drive in the trans so the car uses its full power in the 1/4 mile...good tires...weight reduction maybe..its easy to get a d16a run mid 15's but it takes a lil more to make it a 14 second n/a car

i ran 15.7 with my old crx with a stock d16a6 with busted mounts, and cut springs. i put in a mugen chipped pr4..i just revved the lil d16a6 to 7800 and went, i ran twice and got the same trap speed of 88mph.
