HP+ pads - help they are driving me insane
A few months back I put these pads on the front (stock Hondas on the rear) at the same time, a buddy with a GSR put them on his car also.
They stop well. Had them on the track once.. problem is driving in town they squeal really loud. they are getting worse. They still work good for those hard stops, but I'm losing my mind everywhere else. Thing is, the GSR pads dont do this.
I have resorted to using the handbrake when I'm in traffic.
Do I have to dump these and just go back to OEM?

Welcome to the world of high performance brake pads. As you have so very well detailed, high performance pads make a lot of noise at low speeds. By their very nature they will always be noisy compared to stock pads. There are few things you can do. First did you install the pad shims? If not put them on. They will dampen the vibrations that cause the noise. If that doesn't work they might be glazed and in need of surface finishing. Take the pads, find a clean section of the garage floor or sidewalk and rub the pads face down back and forth 5-8 times. This will remove any surface glazing and leave the surface flat. Use moly grease on the backing plates, the caliper piston edges, and on the outer part of the caliper that the outer pads rest against. All these things will help somewhat. Also did you install new rotors or turn the old ones so the pads have a fresh surface to bed into?
Yep, i had that problem with HP+ and it drove me nuts.
However, I've ran Porterfield R4S on my Type R, and now the AEM's, and neither squeek. I also have AEM's on my GS-R.

What, you don't like children and small animals running away from your car??
Try the shim trick, it works pretty well. For really aggressive pads like Porterfield R4 you might have to invest in some ear plugs or a better sound system.

I to have these pads on my car!
My wife always gives me dirty looks when I brake in traffic. Guests in my car always think that something is wrong with my brakes util I USE them.
I have found that genuine Honda brake grease has worked the best for me but they still make noise. I have just gotten used to it!

The reason why the HP+ pads squeel is because the backing plate to which the pad material is adhered, is not as thick as say the Porterfield, or even the stock pad.
The squeeling is actually the pad moving around (vibrating) within the caliper.
The best way to address this is by damping the vibration.
Automotive Shoo Goop all over the back of the pad will address this problem readily. It will set around the piston and will no longer allow the pad to move (vibrate).

i have yet to install these but have them sitting in my kitchen (waiting for stock pads to get worn more).......but when yall say loud, how loud is it?
Someone on the board, forget the exact name, said that if you grind part of the pad away it helps from making too much noise, the sharp corners on the pad. and put the grease on after the bedding and lets see what else.....shims too

My pads also did that for a while. After I took them to the track though, they were much queiter. If the other suggestions dont work, then just get them nice and hot by doing a few panic stops. It does not eliminate the problem but lessens the intensity.
I later switched to HPS and they have not made a sound.

i am not familiar with the hp's , but I just installed the wilwood 12.1 inch big brake kit on my hybrid with their dynalite 4 piston calipers and race pads and they dont squeel very much, but you can definitely hear them grab. The stock pads are always the most quiet, but unfortunately, the more aggressive the pad, the more noise you will hear at lower speeds
HP+ is more for autocross and track. i don't use them on street beacuse of noise, but they
will stop better than stock and hps.
I use HPS on street but I think ITR brake pad works better than HPS.
