Ok to put 5w 20 oil in a R?
I brought my car to Acura to get a state inspection and a oil change. When I left the dealership and I took a look at the oil change sticker reminder it said 5w 20 was used. Is this okay for my car or did the dealer put the damn wrong oil in?
Or they highlighted the incorrect entry when they entered it in the computer.
I'd go back to the dealer and tell them they put the wrong grade oil and to change it free of charge.

Honda/Acura switched to 5w-20 on all 2002+ newer cars (AFAIK). I doubt they really put 5w-20 in, maybe just used the 5w-20 stickers. Id be pissed if the dealer actually put in 5w-20 when it says 5w-30 right on the damn cap.
the dealers i see ONLY have 5-20
-Dave, who just wants to see sgT reply with the same information again.
5w20 for street use is fine for 3000 miles. Track use it would be too thin for my liking.

Hmm what was the purpose of them switching to 5w 20? Any advantages it has over 5w 30?
Hmmm, they are using 5W-40 on K series engine too in Europe.... Also on B series engines and D series and H series and F series.....
I think there is a big difference if you just drive your car or if you track it.
I track my car every weekend and need some oil which stands high temperature. I used 10W60. Temp is high but the oil is thick enough to protect the internal parts.
I would never dare to track my R with 5W20..

Only SOME new acuras and hondas use 5w-20, not all. I wouldn't recommend 5w-20 on on the R because it's way too thin to provide sufficent protection. Even the RSX-S uses 5w-30, while the base RSX uses 5w-20.
