Default AEM on ITR Question

I just got my aem cai installed last week and it looks and feels great. But from under the car you cant see the filter because there is a plastic thing covering the bottom with little air holes. Can i remove this plastic thing? What did you itr owners do?

Depends on how brave you are (weather conditions, ... puddeling).

Leave it on, your better off with it on. Taking it off will expose the filter to all weather elements and also the cover is part of the fenderwell trim. So your engine will also be exposed to additional debris.

Boba- who's inner fender lining came out and the dealer replaced for free.

I have the bypass valve on my AEM CAI, and i've always wondered, is the foam on the outside of the bypass valve enough to keep small dirt particles from getting sucked in to the throttle body? When i lift up the foam, i can see a fair amount of dust/dirt buildup on the edges of the rubber flaps. THis can't be good for the engine, can it?

I still have to clean mines, after a year of driving on the ITR.

Sorry, it was never on w/the AEM, so I've nothing to compare it to.

Unfortunately I don't really do my own maint. any more (other than oil changes, rotate wheels),
so I don't know how dirty it was either.

Hmm, it's amazing that with all the similar names, Type R, after 510 or so days this board has been in existance, was only taken 14 days ago
