Default The New Acura TSX

have you folks heard about what is basically the new 4 door RSX to be badged the TSX? Supposed to have a 220hp K24 and be released sometime this year. I saw a short article in Import Racer about it and they said it was supposed to compete with the BMW 3 series and the IS300, I hope it doesnt cost as much, it seemed funny that they would use a K24 for this car and a K20 for the RSX...would having a K24 option take away sales from the RSX lineup?

TSX isn't a 4 door RSX, rather it's the Euro Accord. It is larger than the RSX yet smaller than the TL. It does have a K24, but only makes 200 HP, the same as the Type S (more torque...166lb ft if memory serves correctly). I don't think it will take away from RSX sales at all...totally different market. It will also be priced higher (26k+).

Bah, people will only start stealing them if there is a cheap shell to put the engine into. While the EP3 is somewhat inexpensive it still isnt like the $2-4000 EG.

That said I'd love to have a TSX with a DC5R head swap. Then again maybe Acura will just give us a TSX-S.

Well right now Acura has not said anything about a Type-S variant. Also, an engine for a possible Type-S has not appeared yet. While its a safe bet to say it would be a pumped up K24, no one knows what spec that engine would be.

If there is going to be a Type-S the reason Honda may be keeping it under wraps for now is that the 2004 TL has not come out yet, and a TSX-S would start bumping into the price of the TL if it were released right now (April 3rd to be exact). But who knows what goes on within Honda. I bet someone could make a pretty damned interesting documentary about it...

Well, my wife and I drove a TSX yesterday @ Goodson Acura. They only had a black/black but it waqs an auto. The price they were asking is $28,999 and they aren't coming off of it at all. This model included a navigation system that is unlike anything I have ever seen. The seats are very comfortable and the car comes with 17" wheels and tires.

The TSX drives very good. It reminds me of a German sports car. With my wife driving and the salesman in front, I rode in the back seat which was to my surprise, very comfortable. We drove it around some corners and it pretty much stuck to the ground at a decent speed.

The gauges are a soft white back lit in design. All the controls are pretty much on the steering wheel including the voice command switch.

All in all, I would buy one definitely!!. However one would think that a 6-speed model would be a little cheaper, it's not.

If you are in Dallas, go by Goodson Acura and talk to MAQ, he can show you the car and maybe even let you drive it. Here is there number if you wanna make an appointment: (972)-554-0505

$29K?

No thanks. It's an interesting car for $25~26K. For 29 I'll start looking for a deal on an IS300.

OMG the G35 is such a better deal..

G35 = RWD + V6

it will embarras the TSX.

Head to head in performance I agree the G35 will win hands down. But 29K is not going to get you a 6-speed G35 with Nav and sunroof, more like $36,845. Hmm, about $8K more.

I think the point of the TSX is that it provides decent performance that exceeds much of the competition at its price point (A4, 325, maybe the IS300) while having the same or more options. A TSX without Nav is $26ish ($26,900 I hear) which is less than just about all of the competition:

IS300: $31,525
A4: $29,160
325i: $32,395
G35: $31,325 (sedan configured with AUTO)

Granted, the aforementioned competition at least gives you the option of not getting certain stuff (I would skip leather trim if I could, and maybe forego the moonroof). But, most luxury customers are not track nuts like I am so they're going to want the leather, heated seats, premium audio, moonroof, and dual climate control; all things the TSX has standard. When you look at the TSX from a value standpoint it really is a winner.

I think I agree with MK Ultra in that if it were close, I'd be inclined to pick an IS300 but that would depend on how I felt after driving the two of them back to back.

Just the same, I hate the way Honda fights tooth and nail to keep all of their cars FWD. I know its easier and cheaper for them to just use one platform (the Accord for instance) and make 3 or 4 different models off of it, but maybe they should at least make one RWD sedan platform so that Acura can be taken seriously. Then again maybe the FWD platform sharing is one of the major reasons Acura can keep prices low.

We recieved 3 of them couple of days ago. Looks neat.......or Okay I should put it, not my typical style. However, the TSX we had were already sold. According to my GM, only 15,000 are being brought from Japan. (Thats mean they won't break like most of the new junk Honda/Acura lately.) Small Acura dealers will be lucky if they get no more than 5 this year. Kinda like the SI (Honda '99-'00 SI). The next few were getting are going to be done up with Acura Accessories. OEM body kits, side window visor, some stuff that will look neat. Another option, as like the newer accords, were you can choose two different sylte wings. I'll post some pics when we get some done up shortly in a few weeks.

Im sure you could, but why??? The quality of the Acura is so obvious in every single part of the car. Fit and finish is excellent. I sat in a Subaru and then in the RSX, you can tell that Sube spent all their money on the engine and drivetrain, and Acura did a more balanced approach. Now the new STI is going to have leather, and moonroof, and supposedly be a more refined car than the WRX. Seems like they got the hint.

I agree, the 6 is going to be a very appealing option. My friend just got one with a v6 and stick... WOW is that car sweet.
