A while back I posted that I thought my car was pinging. I had my Dad ride with me and he said its not pinging, not loud enough. Then we came up with the conclusion that its the air whistling/whirling through the intake. I have an AEM CAI. My question is, does anyone else with an intake have this whistling too? Or could it be something else?

 

aftermarket intakes all whistle a little bit...its normal

 

Yeah, after completing my swap, I have a whistle on slight throttle up. It sounded like a loose washer rattling. I think that's what it is. No way around this other than getting a factory airbox?

 

True, most aftermarket intakes will whistle, but I've never heard of them making a "pinging" noise.

 

MIne whistles Alot and gets louder around VTEC but never a pinging noise!!!

 

The first short ram I ever made sounded like a BOV when I let off the throttle. It wasn't as loud, but it was loud enough to confuse some people when I raced.
