Noise from Short RAM Air Intake
HI all,
I just replaced the stock intake in my 96 DX hatchback with an AEM short RAM air intake. The car seems like it's performing better but I am hearing a high pitched noise from the intake whenever I give the car gas and the throttle opens up.
Is this normal ?
Does anyone else have this issue ?
If it is normal is there a way to dampen this noise, it's a bit irritating.
Thanks!

I have the same problem w/ a Ebay intake I picked up for $20. At certain throttle positions there is a loud whistle, but everywhere else its normal. Rick

I have had both a short ram and a cold air intake. The short ram is by far louder because it seems to echo off the engine bay with a whistle you can here in the cabin. The cold air on the other hand is down where your resonator box was, so I only hear a mild growl now.

Just curious, ever notice that some peoples intakes seem to sound 5 times louder and meaner than yours. I noticed some mid '90s Accord yesterday (slow), it's intake sounder almost 3 times as loud as his exhaust; only way I can describe it is like a metallic growl (like what you get from a DOHC )

the different loudness from car to car is the resonace from the length of the pipe in relation to the sound frequency of the noise at which your car sucks in air.
