Default Have you guys seen this kinda set-up before.

Ok, here is the AutoX event I went too last summer and caught a glimpse of this yellow hatch. I was looking at the engine and noticed that the turbo itself is bolt up above the exhaust mani or something. I know majority of the turbo sits under the manifold, but this was kinda sits up a lil higher. I'm just curious about the set-up and if you could enlighten me or something that would be great. I didn't have a chance to talk to the owner cause he was busy taking the cones.

The owner is actually a 40/50 years old mang.
Low enough??

it looks like its a type of manifold where the exhaust flange for the turbo is on a slant to keep the shaving of the block at a minimum. But this guy took the approach of mounting the compressor on the driver side which rather than putting it a little bit below the manifold and closer to the engine, puts it a little higher than the manifold and further from the engine.

i don't know if this has any pros/cons but that seems to be why its above the manifold a little bit, vs the common, slightly below.

EDIT: i can't spell for the life of me today.

i think you really need some kind of bracing to keep that turbo from snapping of the manifold.

this is the first d series setup i have seen with the turbo in that place.

I like the set up looks pretty good to me, different too.

Saw that car drag-racing once...I think it was throwing down low 14s or something...not bad for street tires and a shitload of camber.

It's still not fast though...

Suprdave
its quick... but not fast

And to whomever said something about bracing i think the turboand manifold would be fine, takinginto consideration the turbo is a t25 or similarly small sized turbo, and the manifold's primaries are not very long and/or extended frlom the motor, so there shouldn't be too much stress.

definatly a nice lil autocross car.

it seems a little bit too low... your messing with the suspesion geometry there...

and if he has camber issues.....

dont buy the graphics and buy a camber kit.
