to check your vacuum try lookin over all the vacuum lines and look for any that might be cut or broken or just missing. secondly try the eacv .. its a valve with 2 coolant lines pluged into the bottom of it and its on the back up your intake manifold. after you change then bleed your coolant system by takin off the radiator cap and letting the car run .. if you wait and put water in then bubbles will come out . just wait untill it stop bubbling. for a new eacv you can use one off pretty much any civic ..

yeah...usually the eacv. if you have a haynes, chiltons, or helms look up how to test the eacv before you change it. i thought that mine was bad and it tested differently than what it was supposed to but the idle went from 1500-700, up and down. it ended up that the idle was just set so high and the dashpot wasnt working correctly. but an eacv is usually cheap in the junkyard...so its worth a try.

Before doing a whole lot of extra work, check and or set the warm idle. This is done by first warming the car up to operating temperature (colling fan will be cycling on and off at idle. Turn all accesories off, disconnect the IACV and set the idle to 750 RPM using the idle air control screw on the top left corner of your throttle body. Turn it clockwise to reduce speed. It is most likely set too high. It's easy to check and has fixed this simptom several times for me!

Default Thanks Everyone

hey guys, and girl, I just wanted to say thanx again for all your help, and especially for that forum site that gave detailed fix it tips. I fixed my idle prob and now just have to focus on cmi's this weenend. by the way, all the problem was, was the plastic piece in the FICV, it needed to be screwed back down...but thanks just the same.
