Default Civic HB engine swap

I have a "friend" who supposedly took a *stock* '95 Civic HB and swapped the motor out from a *stock* 1999 'teg gsr. I know he has a slipping clutch and a dying tranny. He says that he ran a 13.7 at the track but can't seem to produce the ET slip. Is this even possible? Keep in mind: all he has done is air intake, exhaust, and ECU *supposedly!* Thanks for your speculation.

*cough cough* BULLSHIT!! Naw man, I think thats a little bit of bs he's trying to feed you. Slicked down, extremely gutted, somewhat built motor, and he'd still probably have a hell of a time producing a time like that!

agreed...
if it was a h22, then yeah, but a gsr, hmm, maybe high to mid 14's with that setup

I agree with everyone else, a fairly stock GSR motor in a Civic hatch will NOT give you a 13.7. Best I have seen for a fairly stock GSR in a civic hatch was around 14.5's and maybe a bit lower depending on how much interior still remains in the car.

hmmm if i put all ur mods that u sed to a stock gsr motor u shouldnt be making more then 160 whp and even with a vx without seats ur car should still weigh in at 2200 or more....and 13.7 sounds a lil far fetched...but hey ive seen weird **** too...what was ur mph...that should tell how much power u have...ITR's run high 14's....i dunno need sum more proof...

Hmm no way you ran that especially with open headers you lose horsepower with no backpressure , and please dont come up with another escuse trying to impress us

it's possible. i've ran 13.8@99 with a fairly stock gsr. only thing i had was jdm 4-1 header, flywheel and clutch.

had another guy with stock b16a in eg hatch. only mod he has is fuel rail and intake and he runs 14.4 all day long

his claim is possible but his mph is pretty high, 104?

For you to try and act like you know what you're talking about, you don't.

Unbolting the exhaust and running open header (not headerS) doesn't hurt performance. I know a lot of guys whose best ETs were only AFTER they ran open header.

DON'T TEACH IF YOU'RE GONNA GET SCHOOLED!

BTW:

As for 13.7 on ****-street tires with those mods listed I'd have a hard time believeing it. Sure it *might* be possible, but I'm doubting it. You must have some freak-*** motor or quite possibly the original owner of that motor did some work that you are unaware of.

Unitl you dyno it and weigh your car I'll have a hard time believeing that that set-up which is probably good for 155whp would put you at 13.7@104mph.

Got a video?

EDIT:

What elevation were you at? What dragstrip?

yeah like i sed 2200 sound pretty reasonable with a vx but with driver and gas weight shouldnt have too much to do with it....its just 104 sounds more like a turbo car to have that mph....most type r's which runs 14 flat hold about 99 mph and ur saying 5 mph over that its just hard to believe....14 flat for me i was running 101 mph and thats having 167whp and 152tq...and yes i can drive...i ran on 13 in steelies with 175 tires...so i kno if u have the power its possible but not with ur mods...

These times seem realistic. If you're running a GSR in a hatch pullin' 14.5, it's your driving. A former co-worker of mine had this set up, B16A/Hatch, whippin' out a 14.6 w/ just a axle-back exhaust and short ram intake (w/ the headlamp removed).

13.7 with stock tires pulling 104 mph...sorry not a chance in hell all motor....i cant pull that mph in a boosted car...if u do the calculations...104 means u need at least 177 whp...and thinking a gsr makes on average 145 whp....a chip and intake with open downpipe i highly doubt makes 30 whp...177 is for the time that he ran...and its at least 185 whp for that mph...just going by numbers...also still waiting on vids and timelsip...i have my timeslip and several H-T members that saw my car run....and vidsof myself shifting only...will be on my other thread tomrrow..

stock is slicks and no interior right

or is he subtracting his reaction time from his ET??? It's funny...a lot of people do that...

lol yeah i kno sum ppl do...but he sed 185 series tires and i dont kno any slicks with those sizes...and taking all the plastic and seats ur only saving 60 lbs...i weighed it all and i left it all in...not worth looking stripped...its a bitch putting it all back...104 is impossible
