Default ... b20z all-motor build... $2k budget...

... what would you do?... goal is 175whp... thanks...

*edit* - no i/h/e please... thanks...

... if built, it will be going into a crx... looking into bolt-ons, a GSR/Si tranny, and chipped ecu (what program?)... but what else?... headwork & valvetrain?... bottom end?...

damn it i hate the fact that the search archives is down!

well heres what i would do for a budget B20/LS all-motor buildup. Its a long list but take what you want from it.

B16 with LS 5th or GSR tranny $500-700
LSD$900
CM stage3 clutch $400
Toda $450
portflow head work $900
skunk2 intake manifold $220
hondata intake manifold gaskets $45
ITR TB 62mm $150
AEM ITR CAI $100 used
crowler 62404 cams $450ish?.............cams stop making power at about 8200rpms
crowler valvetrain upgrade with Nitride coating($60) $280ish?
Toda cam gears $250
magnacore wire $100
MSD ingnition (6al/Sci w/ blaster 2) $240
forged pistion 11:1cr with OEM rings $500
stock rods with APR rod bolts $25
APR head bolts $40
JDM ITR 4-1 header w/ heat sheild $300
tanabe exhust $375
test pipe $20
Aem FPR $150
AEM fuel rail $120(not nessary, stock is fine up till 350ish whp)
walbro 225 intake fuel pump (not nessary, but just in case pump is too old) $100
hondata S100 $250
or
Zdyne silver $650
installtion & about 1 hour of dyno tunning $300

with the stock bore it should see about 180whp and 140tq
with a 86mm sleeved bore (crank work, pullys, 12.1cr; I'm thinking more like in the 195whp range with 155tq. But you'l still need to get a new head gasket, water pump, thermo, timing belt ect.
there are cheaper routes of makeing power but the choice is up to you. HTH

oh in a shorter answer to get to 175whp you'll need

NEED a better IM than stock (skunk or other)
good header 4-1
62404 cams
valvetrain upgrade
cam gears
new pistions (11.1 or higher)
or
head work and mill head to bump up the cr

afc & rechipped ecu(nothing special...just change redline to 8500) OR hondata/zdyne

dyno tuning!

For some more reliablity: add a block girdle and have everything balanced.
