Default EGT gauge?

What kind of EGT gauges are you guys using/running on your FI cars? I'm getting one soon, hopefully, but am not sure which ones are good...I've heard people recommend the Greddy ones, but is there specific reason as to why you'd recommend it? What about other brands like Apex or Autometer or any other brands that I dont know about? How was the install on these things? How helpfull/reliable/accurate have they been in tuning? TIA

Greddy 52mm. Quality, price and accuracy on the gauge is pretty good.

Is there anything else out there besides these two product? I'm looking for one as well. And where can I get a good price for the greddy one?

i would recommend the greddy one as well. For some reason Celcius is easier to read when your driving than F since the intervals are less ...well at least to me it is.

Contact viren..he has some awesome prices for greddy gauges

Get one with a peak/hold/warning light.

Greddy or Apexi have them the cheapest.

so you think the a/f wideband is much better than an EGT gauge? (no flame intended, just a question from a guy still trying to learn )

I found a pretty good deal from a guy on here named "Hatchii" that sells the Greddy 52mm ones for $129.99...you guys think thats a good deal? I'll contact Viren and see what he sells them for...anyone have bad experiences with the Greddy products? So its in Celcius, correct? Whats the transfer value of that to Farenheight (sp?)? Also, where is the ideal location to place the probe? People say on the manifold on runner #3, but i've seen some that are on the downpipe?? TIA

No, its better to tune off EGT if you get good, you dont even need a A/F gauge.

You have PM...are the peak/warning light/etc. really that necessary/helpful? I mean understand they are helpful, but are they worth it? It only comes in the 60mm size, correct? Thats about....2.4"?

Hows so. AF i think is better since it gives you an an exact value. EGT is liek a bell curve, u can be too lean or too rich on the extremes of each and still get teh same readings. Both would be optimal in my opinion.

No, thats totally wrong.

If that was the case, then all the tuners in the world would use EGT's and not widebands

Dang; blow a motor and have an even better one right away...i wish i had it like that ...thats why i stick with single cams, they're a dime a dozen and cheap to replace

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2409662549

Probobly going to end up getting that one...then going to look for a wideband...the techage ones are the ones you have to build yourself, correct? I know the other brand (cant remember) that comes preassembled was like $500+...ouch

Its not wrong if you know what your doing...

You can tell by the sound of the motor and the smell of the exhaust which side of the spectrum your on when it comes to a/f then just tune it to the desired exhaust gas temp.

Don't get me wrong wideband is great if you got both your set. But if i had to choose one i would definitely choose EGT.

The ideal situation is a dyno with exhaust hookup and egt. IMO
