question i asked myself
Why did honda introduce the b16 to the US for only two years.
when in japan they had b16s when 1992.
I remember we used to go to honda dealorships and search for a 99-00 si, and the dealorship would say if you find one let me know. If they were such hot cars, why did they stopped making them.
When gsr was avaliable to us in 94

uhh, Alot of high performance cars/motors don't make it in the US because of our restictive emissions laws... the laws are for the greater good but they blow when it comes to automotive enthusiasts...the higher a motor revs and the more fuel it consumes, the more emissions it makes, so the laws don't like powerful motors. And the market just isn't as great as one would think. Think about it like this: A dealer sells out of their alotted 13 Si's in like 2 months; well yeah thats pretty good but think about how much more demand there is for minivans and SUVs. Hi-per cars can't compete. It sucks but it keeps me busy because I love building/maintaining hi-per vehicles...i'd be bored if fast/powerful motors were common place.

my opinion is that honda never saw much potential for it here(they were wrong)...being that imports are only popular on the coast states...go into the mid east or mid west nothin but fords, chevys, and Dodge
because the K's came out? new designs, mang. plus, remember, we bombed the hell out of them, so they have to taunt us every now and then with a quick jdm taste.
hey playaho you are full of **** and have no clue what you are talking about. All the B16's in America had 160HP.

The B16A is a torqueless bitch of a motor anyway. Why complain?
Its the same question as why didn't they bring the WRX or the EVO the North Amercia for this long? There are probably many factors contributing to the decisions that car companies make.
Besides, the B18C GSR was around for 8 years and thats what I'm truely happy for.

Another thing to consider is that in the US honda will not release anything that may bite into their acura sales. So we had the acura gsr w/b18c1 for years, but we see the b16a2 sporadically in the honda line in some of their more sport-oriented vehicles. Same type of reason why we won't see the CTR here.
Emissions do play a part, but IMO, its more about money, market, and profits. Keep in mind that they did bring the ITR over, so they could handle the emissions issues if they wanted to.
