I got my B16A running in my 88 hatch a few weeks ago. So far I've put 650 kilometres on it, and it hasn't burnt any oil or coolant yet, or anything like that. Did a compression test and they were all 220+ psi.

Anyways, here's my situation: The engine ticks alot. I did a valve adjustment a few days ago, to 0.006" on the intake and 0.007" on the exhaust. That quieted it quite a bit, and the engine is quiet up until I've driven it for about 10 minutes. After that, the ticking is back. What else could it be? It's really annoying... it's the loudest at 2500 rpm, but is quieter when I go above that. Did I mess the valve adjustment up?

 

the injectors on honda's are loud especially b16's. it could be that or u did the clearances wrong but id go with the injectors. its nothing bad just normal sound

you need another valve adj. mine did the same exact thing, take it to a honda dealer to it done

 

I have RC injectors and the injector tick actually got louder. haha. weird stuff.

Yes, your Honda should go 'tickity tickity tickity' ;-)

I don't know of too many Hondas that don't make the noise.

My b16 did that too, a really fast ticking sound. I think it got queter at higher rpms because the engine got louder, but I'm sure. Anyways, it bothered the hell out of me and I spent some money trying to figure it out. Ended up saying fak it and since then I don't remeber it bothering me anymore....

The consensus says: injectors. That's what i think too. I just don't know why they're so quite when the motor is cold, and tick when it's warm.

 

see i told u injectors...mine has done that forever even when i make sure and spend extra time to do the valve clearances perfect.
