Default Maaco paint and self-prepping

ok, i've searched and read up all over the board(s). i read/ hear good and bad thigns about maaco. i was just looking to get my front-end painted to match the rest of the car (99-00 front-end conversion). now, if i can get a good price on doing a full color change, i'll go for it.

now, what i want to know is: how do i set up a good prep job? do i have to mask, sand, and primer everything myself? if so, what would i need, how much would it cost, and how long should it take?

thanks forthe help guys.

the only thing id suggest doing is masking everything off. I was going to sand my car myself and shoot my own base coat but from what I hear, you could technically void your warranty if you do that. If the paint job comes out really sh*tty, they could say it was your prep work. I would just mask everything yourself.

just remember that every single macco is different so try to go in and see some of their work, the only thing you should really expect is overspray, but you get what you pay for. At the price their offering paint jobs for, in my opinion, if you find a good macco then its def worth it. Im not looking to win any car shows with my car, i know its gona take a beating from me every chance i get, so a macco job is perfect for me.

alright, i just came back from Maaco and i got an estimate done. i'll do the full color change with the door jams as well. they'll charge me $415.95. that's for the Supreme package. i talked to the owner's daughter. she's been there for 11 years. cool lady. i also pitched the idea of doing advertizing layouts for them and i talked to the owner himself. i have to meet with him tomorrow and show him some ideas. so what do you guys think? and if i don't like how it comes out, i'm just gonna' have them do it until i'm satisfied.
