Re: Is Maaco Good?????
They can do a good job as long as you do most if not all the prep work. That means taping off lights, door handles, and everything you dont want them to paint. Im sure they can prime it and paint it but it would cost a little more. As far as Ive heard they do lay down some nice paint but suck at preping the car, so if you can do that yourself I think you would be good.

well they can do good work as well as they can do shitty work,
macco does have a reccord with shitty work but there are also macco places that do really good work, shop around and ask to look at cars they have at there shop, that have and havent been painted.
the rust problem is a really common honda issue and isnt that expensive or hard to fix. i suggest fix it your self and do most of the prep work your self.

Also exspect to pay more for a nice Job. Dont go buy there commercials. My grandfather was going to paint his AMC hornet all original white its in good condition all ready for paint he was looking at 1,800. Thell give you a 700 dollar paint job but it wont last very long.

coming from my experience of painting cars trucks and motorhomes, i know you always get what you pay for... and the ONLY real way to get rid of ANY rust is to replace it. always keep that in mind. everyone def. of a good paint job is different. lemme know how it turns out.

I had the Signature paint job from Maaco on my Prelude, it was $1,150 all said and done. The clearcoat peeled off, the paint peeled, and they didn't do any prep work whatsoever, and this was their top of the line paint job. But I know better now. I was young and stupid back then.

98civdx---- So are you saying a maaco job was just as good as your 7 grand job if so your friend got hammerd. I have 2 friends that own a body and paint shop. They will do Up my grandfathers car for 2500 and they do a quality job door jams, engine bay (if we pull motor). Maaco is a wam bam thank you man sort of job.
One of my other friends paid 2,150 at maaco and after 2 years on his 1998 Z28 camaro the clear coat is flaking off and the paint is oxidizing. You got to look at do they do base coat clear coat or single stage?

^^ no hell no, the quailty difference is night and day compared to my other friend that had his painted at macco for around 2600 ish i was saying what he was quoted was cheep
but i dont agree because i have seen a few macco jobs that dont look bad for what it cost.
90% of the macco jobs i have seen could have turned out way better if they would have done some damn prep for once.

I did all the prep work my 02 civic and they did a decent job. They got overspray on the whole underside of the car but its whatever....i was selling it anyways. Its great if you are selling a car but for your own car, take it to a reputable custom shop and pay the extra money. You will be much hapier in the long run.

Maaco rocks. yes, it is the cheap unpainted doorjam paint job, but what do you expect for 350!!!. I've had lots of friends that had maaco paintjob. One of them had the body work + paint for 550 but they missed a dent. the car came out clean. I would suggest you doing your own damn body for, + pull out all of the trim and lights and things you do not want painted. maaco lines sucks=].
4 year guarantee. If it flakes, they'll repaint it. 350 for every 4 years is a good deal to me.

Re: Is Maaco Good?????
why not save your money for a legit paint job, at that point just spray bomb your car thats what I did and its been 6 months still mint not permanent but it does the job until i get the funds for body work and paint why waste 1500 on a **** job?

some are, so aren't. stop by and check out their work beforehand.
mine was painted last June, still looks good. it's all in how you take care of it.
