Do you re-use the factory dust cover with aftermarket springs and struts??
I have a 89 CRX DX with bouncy front suspension. I've tried several different things to stop this, and I'm thinking that when the strut is compressed, the dust cover is bottoming out on the strut seat. Is this possible? Anybody have this problem? BTW, I'm using the stock factory black dust cover. Thanks for the replys.
alot of times those things do get stuck to the shock body of the new shock, which could possibly cause that, it happened to me a while back
So will it be ok to run without the dust covers? I thought crap from the road like dust, grime, etc. could get in your strut and damage it. Or should I try trimming them? I've also heard of using the accordion-like dust boots. Where are these sold? Thanks alot for the help.

i don't like trimming the dust covers since they will leave a certain part exposed since you need to trim it when the suspension is at full compress.
i read a post a while back about using the steering rack covers on shocks. the steering rack uses accordian style rubber sleeves.

kyb actually makes a rubber accordian style dust cover...it mounts solid on top and bottom and just compresses and stretches. i cant think of how to describe it...
i think i actually saw them for sale on www.tires.com. i think....cause they sell suspension stuff too. or else look on the kyb site.
