Default New to board -- Question about 97 Prelude...

Hello,

I know nothing about Preludes but am considering a 97 Predule with 88k miles. Is there anything I should know/check before making this purchase (e.g. recalls, defects, problems, upgrades in later models, etc???)?

Looking forward to getting the car and any advice would be greatly appreciated...

thx

i had a 97 and got a recall for the starter. nothing big that i know about. some ludes burn oil, there doesnt seem to be a power loss but just check it often, its just something the engines do i guess.

Default One more question...

The prelude has 88k miles -- how many miles have you guys taken it before any MAJOR work needed to be done?

I've heard that hondas are reliable, but long have you guys taken it? Should the car be okay till about 140-150 k miles?

check -

carfax (someone here may be able to help with that)
check underneath the car for oil spills, leaks etc
under the spare for water damage
take it to a honda dealership or a performance shop to have it checked out.
timing belt
plugs, wires

good luck. post pics when you get it.
