im sure this post has been killed already but....
how could i install a racing harness, w/out a cage or anything, and so i dont mess up my back in a wreck, could i install a bar behind the seat so the harness would be paralell to the ground? just weld and bolt a bar across the frame?

For safety reasons you shouldn't have harnesses without a roll bar. If you roll the car you will be pinned upright. Reclining seats might break but you will still be squished and that is bad times.
