Warning about 99 Accord Crank Pulley coming loose
Hey guys
Just wanted to warn you guys about the crank pulley being loose. My g/f car is a 99 Accord and the freaking thing got loose and all the belts came off (Power steering, a/c with alternator) Wierd thing is that the car is bone stock with 40K miles on it. No mods at all to the motor. I tighten the pulley as hard as I could at the parking lot at her school.
Took the car to my buddy's and now the crank is all wobbly. The crank is warped. I think the motor is fubar now. I spoke to two of my friends that work at Honda and weird thing was that they also had 2 other 99 Accords that did the same thing. Im not sure if this is a flaw or something. Just wanted to give you guys the heads up.

When I had my UR pulley on the belts seemed to slip a bit. I used the Gates belts that UR recomended. Seems fine now that i have the stock crank pulley and belts back on.
I tried everything under the sun to get my crank pully bolt loose when I did the timing belt, now I hear some of them just walk off on their own! go figure
Yeah, no kidding! When I did the timing belt on my Civic last weekend I ended up renting a 3/4" drive impact wrench (~800 ftlb) after trying wrenches rated up to 450 ftlb. I almost wish it would have walked off.
