Default Comptech icebox-REVIEW for anyone who cares.

I know this is a really old topic discussed countless times. This is for anyone who cares & just wanna give my $.02

Overall,a great mod-hp/$.Esp when I bought it used at a great price,so even a better hp/$ ratio. Design quality not as good as OEM,but for the $,can't argue.Fit was decent and easy to install.

I'm using K&N's E-2427 filter--barely fits in the box.Decided to go with this filter cuz it does better job of filtering dirt & requires less frequent cleaning than foam filters.

Butt dyno results:

-noticeable improvement esp. in low & midrange; u can really feel it when VTEC hits--really surprised me,didn't think it was gonna make that much of a difference.
-some gains in highend also but not as much as lows & mids

I've really gotta give a to the guys who installed the MUGEN intake in there ITR with AC--How do get it to fit?WOW

The icebox already fits really snug already.

i like mine as well. but you're right the foam filter bites, i think i'm going to change it with the k&n filter, unless anyone else has a better experience with a different filter?

It's much improved over stock.Def worth the $

Wish I had the $ for a Mugen intake though.

Theoretically, yes. But you can't even see the difference on the dyno. I tested stock versus the Comptech and there was basically no difference.

I run the complete comtech intake/icebox for a year now.

1st) I felt NOTHING but I am a believer

2nd) You can`t dyno an intake. That`s rubbish

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=449873

3rd) I switched from K&N to comptech filter and it does the same job

I've never had an AEM CAI.This is my first CAI ever. What really persuaded me to go with icebox was less chances of hydrolock & more (or no loss of) low end grunt;may not be much but still an improvement on a torque-less wonder.

I guy in my area who did have the AEM on his ITR said that he felt a loss of torque at low RPM, but improved power at high RPM over stock intake.

Did you have to squeeze the K&N filter to fit inside the box or did it fit fit but barely? I'm thinking about going with this set up also. Thanks.

The K&N fits in the Icebox fine, a tight fit end to end but there is plenty of room in the width)

Here it is in the standard box http://members.tripod.com/derestrict...ters/index.htm

Is that on the stock box or on the Icebox? Are the two boxes the same size?

The pictures are of a stock box but I have the K&N in the Icebox now no fitting issues. The boxes are about the same length and the icebox seems a little deeper, but the snorkle going from the inner wing to the box is much bigger on the Icebox, the entry into the box is also much smoother than the stock one.
