Tranny- 5th slips out of gear...
I was driving yesterday and I was in 5th gear. All teh sudden I was not in 5th gear. I just swapped this engine in and put a Quaife LSD in the tranny and it has been working fine for about 7 months now. The tranny has 160k on it tho. I just started boosting about 3 weeks ago. I don't know if this has any impact on wearing my tranny out faster. When i swapped the engine and everything i also put in urathane motor-mounts. What do you guys think the problem is.
Thanks- Corey

first make sure all of your mounts are tight, so that the engine is not moving causing it to pop out. My next thought is that when installing the quaife, the bearing on the end got put on upside down and now has come apart allowing too much play and 5th gear is moving around on the shaft.
But look at the obvious things first before you pull the trans!
Good luck

check your tranny fluid level... same exact thing happened to me too.. it only happened during 5th gear... at 1st i was scared and didnt know what was going on cuz i just bought the engine/trans.. so i checked and filled the fluid and presto, the problem went away.... most likely, you need to check your fluid and check it ASAP, b4 u cause any further damage..
my third gear slipped outta gear , but that was cuz my rear motor mount was completely broke thanks to the ACT six puck. Got a hasport rear mount now.
Thanks guys for the reponses. I am hoping it is the tranny fluid. I didn't have a problem with it for 7 months then all the sudden it came around. Let me know if anyone else has any ideas.

my friend used to have the same problem after about 3 months of driving with a new lsd and new 3rd gear sync.
Took the tranny to acura(friend works there) and it turns out the bearings were pretty eaten up. He was low on tranny fluid at a certain point.

Sounds like the rings as Mike said. On the bronze rings there is something like a large ring around it. It gets worn and no longer locks the slider in place. Its a cheap fix but labor intensive.
It was the Tranny Fluid. Somehow my mainshaft bolts came out of my block and the axle sliped out of the tranny just a bit. I did everything today and it is all back to normal. Thanks alot guys!!
