RHD Type R?
i have recently delt with this issue with Yoshi form J's Garage. it is possible to bring the RHD cars here however the cat has to be changed to a us spec cat and the ECU must be changed to OBD2. the other issue is that you must provide crash testing that satisfies the DOT. basically you have to buy one and crash it. i actually considered doing this and becoming an RI (registered importer) however after the taxes and shipping cost you would pay a few thousand dollars in addition to the modifications and the car itself. for example i would have ended up paying around $22,000 for a 98 ITR. good luck.
If someone buys a rhd car and has it crash tested does DOT have records of this?
That would be stupid to have multiple owners having the same kind of car sent to have crashed.

I was heavily considering having an EVO VI imported last year, and what I found out was most people document the crash results under "Personal Use", and they are not archived with the DOT, and to use them you would have to ask the other owners...not the DOT. That is why MotoRex is pretty much the only importer of Skylines, because they have all the results listed to them, and MotoRex wont let anyone use the results, and in turn they can charge huge fees for the vehicles they bring in.
It wouldn't hurt to ask owners of RHD ITR's for their stats., but if you are only interested in it for the novelty of having a RHD ITR, I would consider just welding on the front clip of the RHD ITR onto a USDM teg, then you wouldn't have to go through the tests.

I don't know how much this helps but there is a company called overdrive.com or overdrivejapan.com or something; I sure you could find it if you looked. Nevertheless, they have a brand new 02 ITR for 19k.
