Hey...I don't exactly know what the KM to Mile conversion is but hopefully u will...I got my type-r on memorial day ( 3 weeks ago). I read the manual it said "extreme conditions change oil every 3,500 miles..normal driving change every 7,500 miles)....I changed mine at 1,000 miles figuring a) i wanted a better motor oil (BMW Super Syntec) and b) The break-in period would probably produce a lot of particles from the engine as it was broken in so you know I wanted clean oil.....its really up to you on how often you want to change your oil...I wouldn't push it to 7,500 miles, I'm planning to do every 5,000 after I hit 10,000 on the odo w/ Mobil 1....if you dont VTEC it everyday and just cruise around every 3-4 thousand miles should be fine...as for oil you'd probably want to use a synthetic brand of motor oil (5W-30) ...again i dunno how everything is organized in canada w/ SAE Motor Oil ratings and stuff but....I'd reccommend Mobil 1, BMW Synthetic if you can get it, Pennzoil Syntec...

I would change your oil every 3000 miles or ~5000 km. For the first couple oil changes I would use a non-synthetic oil. After about 10k miles or ~16000 km I would use Mobil 1 synthetic.

Red Line oil. Full engineered synthetic. You gain a little power, reduce temperature, slightly increase gas milage, and their synthetic 5w30 street oil provides higher film strength than most petrolium 10w30s. I use it in my R and noticed that the VTEC engages slightly more quickly and smoothly, since it is hydraulically actuated. check it out at http://www.redlineoil.com
I changed my oil according to the manual, which was at ~3500 miles, to mobil 1...I noticed the car got smoother and the engine was actually quieter, I liked the engine noise with the stock oil because of the rawness...I didn't have a change in mpg or power...hope this helps

Just use Mobil 1. They are resonably priced ~4.50 a quart and is one of the best synthetic oil. I have 82k in my 95 del Sol VTEC. It has received nothing but Mobil 1 since about 1500 miles. Motor runs better than 95% of the built b16a's out there. Makes 175 whp and 117 ft-lbs correctly. Most recently dynoed at 168 whp but whopping (well, for a street b16a) 121 ft-lbs... all in a factory engine. Head has never been off the car. Only top end valve train changes (CTR cams, ITR LMA, ITR springs, Crower Ti retainers) and all the free breathing supporting goodies. Recently added 310 cc injectors and Hondata stage 4 so fuel is out of tune (haven't dynoed with a lambda meter to check mixture) thus the lower hp... But she'll be in full tune very soon.

Don't do it yet. You still have the special break-in oil in the engine, and you shouldn't change that out so soon (you're at about 2000 miles). Wait until you have at least 4000 miles (6600 km) and THEN change it.
Don't bother spending extra for those "designer" brand synthetics. Mobil 1 synthetic 5W30 is as good as anything you can put in your engine.

I used Mobil 1 10W-30 down in FL because of the heat. I guess it may be okay to use 5W-30 here in NC. Any opinions, guys?
