Default Tapping from crank area????

I went and ran my car at the dragstrip last night (95 EX with LS swap).

Well, to make a long story short, i now hear a tapping noise coming from the crankshaft area, right by the pulley.

Has anybody experienced this before? I'm afraid it's a spun bearing or something to that effect and i just want some input before i pull the pan off it.

Thanks, JV

I found the culprit!!!

On a hunch i pulled the alternator belt off to check it out. Well, i found what was causing the "tapping". It was a pebble stuck in one of the ribs. lol

Probably kicked up and got stuck on the way down the return lane. Atco is alittle sandy.

Anyway, i'm putting on a new belt and reinstalling my splash shield tommorrow so i can avoid any unnecessary worry in the future.

*Moral to the story- Always check the small stuff first, it may just save you some extra work...
