how many here run the H22 w/ their IAB open all the time?
I put a H22 in my EG and for some reason my h22 feels faster with the IAB open all the time. I do know I'm losing a bit torque down low but what do you think?

I think the illusion exists because of the power lost down low, when the power up top finally hits, the changeover feels more violent, thus feels faster
It was the same way in my hatch, then i dynoed it and saw that my power down low sucked until damn near changeover, then all the power came at once, acceleration ideally should be more linear than violent

So there is no power gain at all from 4k to 5k? On my dyno graph i have a little dip in torque from 4k to about 5k. This is with the iabs working properly. I have a 3" intake and 2.5" exhaust, so I figured that maybe the motor was starting to choke alittle at 4k. I probably just need to move my vtec crossover lower though.
To me running with the iabs open, the motor seems revs up alittle faster. It could be the butt dyno deceiving me though.
At the track though, when I ran open iabs i ran slightly faster times and my trap speed jumped almost a whole mph faster. This was at the hottest point in the day too, so I know temperature didn't have anything to do with it, and my 60' times were the same as my previous runs.
I agree with fastwanabe that my car does FEEL faster with the iabs running open all the time, but I notice a lose in torque below 4k.

makes sense however why is it that I trap @ a higher MPH with them open? runs were made 15min within each other and I noticed the same 60' time but my 1/8 was slower as well as the mph. I gained .3 at the 1/8 and 3mph with the IAB open. I dont get it!!!

maybe his IABs arent opening at all when theyre hooked up, thus resulting in his power loss up top when theyre connected, mine are opened all the time, and i personally dont notice any losses, it goes around fine, and besides, if I ever race my motor is never below the RPM where it would open anyways, so i see no point in having it connected..also my ecu doesnt control them...but like i said, ive had no ill effects of running them, i guess if i raced someone from 35 mph in fifth gear it may make a slight diff...but that scenario would never happen anyways..later
it's possible that in the 1-2 shift he is dropping out of VTEC and the IABs close giving a disruption or something but that's about all I can think of.
If they were always closed it would make a huge difference....his times would be severely impaired...

3 tenths and 3 mph in the 1/8 mile seems like a pretty big drop, especially since u hit the 1/8 after the first 2 gears basically..just my toughts
