Where do axles break when they go?

Default Where do axles break when they go?

Just curious as to where the axles actually snap in this pic



Is it the shaft or inside one of the CV joints, etc?

I've seen it mostly occur between #10 and #10 on your pic but it could conceivably break anywhere along the main.

some also break within the boot. seen it before.

I have went through numerous cv joints and they always have broke inside the boot #8

yup, thats were all of mine have exploded. Always at the track on slicks when launching at 9000 rpm....the splines actually twist at that point and then they shear, I have noticed mine starting to show twist marks before they break. I would invest in some good ones but NAPA's lifetime warrenty is too good to be true. I have done it 6 times now.
