Default EK rear disc conversion (have searched already)

can anyone tell me what all is needed to do a rear disc conversion on an EK coupe? i know roughly how to do the rdc on a crx but need a little more info on performing this on my 96 dx coupe. what vehicles can the trailing arm and rear disc assembly come off of? do i need to change the ebrake cables? thanks in advance.

any 5g/6g civic with rear discs or any 3g integra you can use parts from. you'll need the complete trailing arm assemblies including rotors, calipers, pads, brake lines, and ebrake cables. if you use 5g civic or 3g integra parts you have to use your Civic control arms 'cause the 5g civic or 3g teg parts will make things fit funny (camber *WAY* messed up). the e-brake cables are tricky, you have to slide the brackets around on them so they line up with the mounting points on your car. other than that everything is bolt up.

oh, and do yourself a favor and get a bigger master cylinder and brake booster and a 4-wheel disc brake prop valve.

The e-brake cables are a pain in the ***. I used 94 Integra rear brakes, and I used the cables that it came with, so I think it makes it a bit tighter fit (not sure, but I remember hearing people suggest you use 99-00 e-brake cables). In any case, the Teg cables worked out, it was difficult to stretch while connecting to the brake handle, but this may always be the case, I would not know (Ive only done this one time). What is worse is the little brackets under the car that hold the cable in place, make sure you can lift the car pretty high and it will make manuevering easier. Also, you may opt to drop down the rear section of your exhaust (I was lazy and just bent the heat shields enough to get to those damn brackets.) Have fun!

can someone tell me the difference between the ebrake cables on a car with and without disc brakes???? considering length i would think you could make my stock ones work??? probably wrong in thinking that but who knows.

also, can someone tell me how to pull up PMs, cause i accidentally closed one that just popped up, and i would like to look at ones i was recently talking on to get some information i didnt write down.

Does your brake conversion, not include the brake cables from the donor car?

The 99-00 SI e-brake cables bolt right onto the EK chassis. It has all of the same mounting brackets and they are all in the same place.

i havent got the brake comversion yet. when i do get it though i was wondering why i couldnt just use the ebrake cables that are already on my care. i am sure the way they connect to the brakes is a little different but isnt there a way to convert the cable connections over???

also the car i have in mind to get the conversion off of happens to be a sedan, so i am sure the ebrake cables would be too long.

The EX has the same MC/booster as the SI. He will need the prop valve from the 99-00 SI.

The connectors on the end of the cables are different.

ok another question...

considering i am not racing and my brakes are strong enough but could use a little upgrading. other than the looks of rear disc conversion...would i just be better off changing the MC and booster, as well as new rotors calipers and pads????

If you want to upgrade braking, I would upgrade the fronts first. EX/SI/GSR fronts with the larger booster/mc.

Definitely, with the fronts upgraded, you will notice a bigger difference, even if you don't swap out the MC/booster right away.
