WTF happend to my oil pan?
i was driving home from work tonight.... hit something on the road. didnt think anything of it. 1 min later... guess what happends?!?!
oil light comes on. there is now a 2 inch whole in my ******* oil pan. i have no clue how much this is going to cost me... anyone have any ideas? ill be doing the work myself, so i just need ball park figures on used oil pans and gaskets, or a list price at honda?
i hope install isnt any harder than what it is on a civic. just remove the down pipe, the oil pan bolts and gasket... clean and replace right? any suggestions would help guys, ill try to post pics later.
what are the chances it might be cheaper for me to swap out for a SOHC vtec than to just change out my oil pan.... cars got 200k miles on it. what do accord motors go for now a days?

thanks for the site. im going to call around tomorrow, they want about $160 for the pan and gasket. i need to call honda/acura used parts here in san diego to see what they got. im thinking if its going to cost me almost 200 to replace the pan. it will only cost me 600-800 for the single cam vtec right? i think it would be better for me to just replace the motor.
thanks again for your responce... anyone else gots ideas?

You need to just replace your oil pan and you are thinking it will be cheaper to buy and install a new motor? Think again. You can find a used oil pan for cheaper, and a oil pan gasket is only 15 bucks from honda, just start looking around or make a couple of posts. Im sure someone has one laying around. The replacement of the oil pan is simple, remove your downpipe (4-6 bolts), remove one of the support beams(5-6 bolts), drain your oil (1 bolt and a new filter), remove the flywheel cover on your tranny (3 or 4 bolts), remove the old oil pan (16 or 18 bolts i think), put on the new one, and install everything back to specs. If you know what you are doing you should have it done in about 1.5-2 hours max. When you have the old pan off, make sure you didnt do any other damage that you are unaware about.

i have f22 single cam.... i would like it though. i pretty much need this thing fixed with in the next couple of days too. the single cam has over 200k miles. why put 200 bucks to fix it when i could probably get a replacement f22 vtec for 800 installed. thats what i mean by cheaper.... i guess thats the wrong word. maybe it would be alittle bit more cost effective???
