Default skunk2 stage 1 questions...

i will be putting s2s1 cams into my 00 JDM ITR motor. i have replaced cams before on other motors, but we just took the old ones out and dropped the new ones in (no valve adjustment or break in).

What is the proper procedure after the new cams are installed?

My motor will be running OBD1 with a Kenji chipped P28 that has fuel cutoff at 8600. Will the s2s1 make power up that high? How high can the stock ITR head be revved?

i have reved on stock internals to 9k. but i wouldn't do it with aftermarket cams. I would do a valve adjustment and tear it up. But I am rebuilding my whole damn motor now. so take it for what that is worth.

I let the Engine idle up to Operating Temp. Then Let it cool, Then Just Drive it Normal!

I Am running Almost same Setup, And I Made no more power Past 8200, So theres no reason To Rev to 8600 rpms


BTW...The Fuel Curve is Fixed Via DOHC Fuel pump!

My skunk2 stage1 cams peaked at 8700 rpm... so I think they can make power up that high. However, I think my car was a bit of an anomoly, so take that for what it is worth.

My cars breathing was very healthy though, I think the SMS header and full 2.5" exhaust were helping the high-end power tremendously.

What mods and how much tuning did you need to get those numbers? JDM pistons?

I made 20 runs, I had a Peak of 199.7 whp Though it was with a cam gear Adjustment That resulted in a loss of Mid range! It was not worth the 4 more peak whp!

I Have Over Sized JDM ITR pistons!


I will be going back to Dyno soon, And I will Peak Over 200whp with A better Mid Range and Tq curve, Trust Me

The more I Advanved the Intake Cam the More power It made! Plus all runs were done @ 16 deg. BTDC timing So i imagine a change to 18ish would Yeild more also!

The next mod is going to be a Better Header, Should get me In 200 range, Perhaps 205ish?
