Default For those of you who've competed in a car show.. help

Just wondering what you guys have to reccomend.
My daily driver is going to Import Revoltuion in 2 weeks. I have about an hour drive to the show, what would you reccomend me doing so the car stay extra clean on the way there? I plan on detailing it till my arms fall off inlcuding a fresh coat of wax... Other than driving behind someone so i dont pickup too many nasty bugs and stay in their "drag" or whatever you call it. Any reccomendations what i should use on the car after the drive once i get it in the show? how about the day of the show? all help is appriciated

driving right behind someone will yield some nasty stone chips ....get a california car duster for sure ....other wise maybe just a damp chamois to wipe up any dirt thrown up by the wheels and you should be ok i woul think
just my 2sense

cover the front in some clear plastic sheeting so the bugs can get stuck to that

dang you know mugen76 too? geez....

i'll be there, parked right next to him with my broke teg... hope to meet you all there.

as for the highway thing. this might sound cheezy, but if you dont havea car bra, get LOTS of saran wrap and wrap your front bumper / top hood portion in it so bugs dont get killed on your bumper as you go. when you get to chicago get a hand car wash just to get it ready. then drive on in!

I've done a few shows, never competed. But if you're driving a long way, as long as you wax/polish the crap out of it beforehand, it'll be much easier to clean up at the show. I would bring a chamois or Absorber with you, get it damp, and wipe down your car. Then follow that up with a mist or spray detailer (Meguires/Mothers) to get the shine and get rid of the fingerprints. I usually bring a bag with some cleaners like tire dressing, window cleaner, dash shine, etc. Usually you have plenty of time to get ready, so get into it

I'm a big fan of S100 wax (aKa P21S) and their Paint Enhancer Polish Polish. I would dawn the car and clay it afterwards. Apply some glaze if you want to intensify the gloss. Here's a pic of my hood with S100 and their polish.

I go to at leats 10 majour shows a year with my car. I drive to each one. Sometimes over 6 hopurs away. I do nothing but clean it tip top b4 I go and tip top when I get there. I drive fast and hard and I have fun on my way to all shows, cause tats usually when I get to rape other show cars that are all show and no go!

You can wrap your bumper but it usuallty falls off. iuf your really worried. Just take your time and dont stay behind any big trucks!

Good luck!

i heard that instant wax stuff works pretty well for shows too. just spray it on and wipe it off, makes it look like you just waxed your car. if i go, hope to see you there.

3m Blue Painters tape

Put it on your bumper, and the front of the hood on your way to the show, then peel it off when you get there... blue painter tape won't leave any residue if you dont leave it on for 3 weeks...

dud it works, i seen a guy at carlisle lasy year that wrapped the front end of his 360 modena in saran wrap so he could tow it with is escalade halfway across the state, just thought it was kinda odd that he got cheap there instead of just buying some kind of trailer or something, either that or he was playing stunner on the turnpike halfway across the state

i have pics, but not on my comp

Well last year at every show I went to.....

I just cleaned / waxed / detailed as much as I could before hand. Then on the highway just took it easy. When you roll into a car show you typically have like 982759872985723897 hours of free time which can all be spent detailing your car. I don't think time is much of an issue. As long as you clean it really well before hand, getting it clean at the show won't be all that difficult.

Or trailor it I guess.....

Ill see you guys at IRev, Flossin` my Stock intake and Stock exhaust.

-Will
