Default F22 or back with the H23?

Hi,
Last year I bought a H23. It had around 160k miles on it and I wasnt expecting it to last that long, and I had originally planned to put an H22 in it . . . however due to lack of funds and lack of time, im forced to go with something else . . . I called about reinstating an H23 in and found out about the F22, ( not knowing too too much about motors). The dealer told me that they ususally last longer than the H23s and have same hp . . . however I know they're slacking a lil on the torque . . but is it better? The 160hp @ 6000rpm instead 5500 is that gonna help or hurt? thanks

it seems that people who try and boost a h series motor have problems but everyone always talks about boosting f series and they dont have problems. i think it might be worth it to get it and turbo it. but what do i know..

i'd say stick with the H23. but it also depends on what you're planning to do with the motor in the future... H23 is better for that extra tq, but F22 is a good motor too. both got some nice potential and you can't really go wrong with either.

Yep, stick with the h23. f22 has 135 hp, so that dealer was a retard. crappy *** motor that f22, slow as *****...you want the h22 or h23. h22 has v-tec, but I hear that the h23 is a better platform to boost. Just depends on what you want to do with your car.

Well guys, I was talking about the F22 DOHC actually, I'm not planning on putting the SOHC in their, thats why I said the F22 DOHC which is 160@6000 rpm and 148tq@5000 . . . . . and for those of you who didnt know . . . the DOHC version is strictly JDM . . . thanks . . . . . and my question that I never got answered . . .

The 160hp on the H23 is @ 5500rpm and the 160hp on the F22 DOHC is @6000 rpm is this better or worse . . . i mean which ones coming out on top? Is the F22 still making power up there or is it even anything to be concerned with? Thanks

I hope you're not getting the tranny with it, the F22B tranny has a 4.062 final drive from that stat page!

he said F22 DOHC. that is the motor that comes in Si preludes in japan and was not available here.
it has about the same hp as the H23, but a little less tq.
it's a 2.2liter non-VTEC DOHC, and yes satan is right, the H23 tranny is better.
i would stick with H23 however. you know what they say, no replacement for displacement. unless you want to save up some more pesos and get an H22.
if you're planning to go all motor that is the one you should get. if you want to boost, H23 is perfectly fine.
