I just bought a red 2000 civic dx hatch. The car is in very good shape overall but there is alot of surface scratches from washing it improperly. I bought a mothers clay bar last night in the hopes that it can help in removing most of the surface scratches. I also acquired the 3 step meguiars (cleaner, polish, wax) which i was going to use after the clay bar. So in total, i was going to do a 4 step job on it. But my friend is telling me that the clay bar wouldn't do much in removing those surface scratches.....fact or fiction? If i am wrong with my caly bar auumptions, what other products can i use?? Thanks.
a little pricey but it is a great product. My father uses it on all of his antique show cars. http://www.zainobros.com
clay bars are used to remove surface contaminants and oxidization, not for scratches.
you need to try a polish, or worst case, have it wheeled out... it costs a bit to have done, but they look great afterward.

Zaino is one of the best polishes out there.
I think that you are confusing it with some of those "as-seen-on-tv" products....
