Is my motor handicapped?!?! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok. I started taking the motor apart to do the head gasket. Well EVERY TIME I go to do something I run into all sorts of confusion. I have included some pics to help out with what i mean.

Ok.....now is this a Fuel Injected intake mani or a Carb. mani????? By the pics it looks more like a Fuel Injected and it has a DPFI plate on it BUT when I start taking it apart it looks more like a CARB model intake manifold. In the book alot of it matches up with a carb. model mani instead of a FI mani. I'm SOOOOOo confused
I know it's like a "stupid n00b" question but I am lost
I dont see a fuel rail/injectors either.......
Then there is this piece....its a brass fittin that is on the top side of the intake mani (which i cant seem to find in the book either) that had a hose running to it from a part below the manifold (which i cant see because the mani is blocking it) and this is what it looked like when it ripped in half while i was tryin to remove it....

what would cause the hose to do that? its like it decayed and it clogged the hose AND the brass fittin it was connected to....

Can ANOYONE help me before i take a sledge hammer to the engine and send the caar to the junkyard
PLLLLEEEEEEASE~!~ its sittin with half the crap taken apart right now and i need to finish before the nice weather goes away THANKS!!!!!1

Well if you have between 88-91 those were never carb'd. You have the DPFI system. It's fuel injection but not true PGM-FI like the Si.

Ok so when I do the MPFI swap where the hell are my 2 injectors im suppose to already have in the car (which i STILL Dont see a fuel rail or anything else for that matter) and does anyone know what that little brass valve is??? my car is an 89 civic sedan lx. i finally got everything loose now i just have to TDC the car and take the dizzy off and viola done. but i need to know this stuff cuz i have a guy who will sell me a complete MPFI swap for like $125 shipped
SI ecu/intake mani/throttle body/sensors/SI dizzy everything but the resistor box. Thanks again!

You wont have a fuel rail on that IM. The injectors are just plugged right into your IM somewhere below the throttle body look below for the injectors. They will be like 1 top top of the other.
Found em thanks!! Okay onw i just need to get the parts and BAM
MPFI + new headgasket =
only have 4 hoses and throttle cable to pull the intake mani off so might as well do it now instead of waiting. Thanks again!!! but does anyone know what the brass fitting is? lol

ok well i tried to take that brass fitting off and ts like rEALLY stuck on there. the hose went down under the intake manifold and into a flat black metal box mounted to the engineblock. Also how do i tell if my headgasket is blown. the car smoked REALLY badly and it was a light gray smoke but by looking at the gasket itself what would i be looking for? There is some paperish material on the metal part of the gasket that is worn off in some areas. is that considered "blown"? thanks!! also i had water on my ca...how did that get there? it was alot just a tiny bit but it was still there.
ps ill try to get better pics of that brass fitting

the fitting you're referring to is the pcv valve, get a new one from any auto parts store and get a new hose from honda and swap it out while you have the intake mani off. also while the mani's off, take that black box that the hose conects to off and clean all of the sludge and crud out of it, those breather boxes tend to get plugged up and cause the engine to not breathe so well. as far as the headgasket goes, if you have it apart, you need to replace it whether it was blown or not. those gasket's aren't designed to be re-used. If you want to give your car a little more kick, get a headgasket from a '96 civic EX (D16Y8) it will work on your engine and since it's a little thinner, it will increase your compression. Also it's a better design overall.
it's also a really good idea to replace the gaskets on any peice you take apart, it'll save you from many headaches in the future, and if you can, get the head re-surfaced at a machine shop in case it got warped. and if that mpfi manifold has been sitting for a while, the injector seals are probably all dried up which can cause some major fuel leaks, might as well replace them too.
