do you think a homemade turbo on a jdm d15b in a 91 civic si with si trannie would make decent combo? i have most parts for turbo now, just need an engine, lol. The d16a6 in my car now has some bad rings and i'm looking at either a zc or sohc vtec d15b. The d15b looks nice because of 2-stage vtec. I have an rhb5 and stage 1 vtec opens at 2500 rpms, nice timing for complete turbo spool. This is my only car and i am looking to swap motor first in the next couple weeks. i'm looking at probably 7-8 psi. i can get a d15b cheap, but would like to know if under 2500 rpms will hurt it's potential due to only one intake port per cylinder being open. any opinions or ideas welcome.

 

bump because I am interested in a very interested in a very similar setup . I would like some more details about the internals of this motor. How does it compare to the D16Z6?

Did you do it yet? I have the JDM d15b in my 97 civic and I am having gas mileage problems and power loss problems. If you have any insight on my dilemma please feel free to speak your mind.
