Default anti-theft tips

Here in Hawaii auto theft is crazy, especially Hondas. I've been trying to figure out ways of preventing people from stealing my rex. I have a viper alarm, star locks, 5% tint, and a club. I know if someone wants your car there's no way of stopping them. But I was thinking of putting so many kill switches that it'll be very difficult for them to drive away with my car. I already have a starter kill built into my alarm.
Other possible switch points:
1. fuel pump, starter, and ignition wires (most people know that)
2. MSD ignition (has an output for kill switch)
3. VAFC (car won't start without it on)
4. Clutch safety switch (the switch on the clutch pedal)

I thought about cutting the wires going to the clutch switch and putting in my own switch. With that switch open the car won't even crank.

I think these switches will give me more piece of mind when I park my car in a dark parking lot when i'm going to the movies or a club.

anybody got any other ideas?

I knew I would get a reply like that.
I'm just trying to help people out. there are a lot of different possibilities as far as how many switches there are and where they are mounted. You just have to figure out how to do it.

k, i got a good one...but i think its too good to tell...well ok: make your kill switch one of the heater/defroster/whatever button on the dash the kill switch. so if that button isnt pushed in (or is? your call) then the fuel pump/starter wont crank

but i think these are all kinda stupid, there is so much **** they can steal with out having to take the whole car. stereo, gauges, seats, subs, ECU, CD's (HAHA most of mine arent labled, or you cant read my writing!), BOV, change in the ashtray/coin tray........

you've got a point. my main goal is preventing someone from taking my whole car though.

I also wanted to add a pager to my alarm and a switch to turn the flashing lights and siren off on the alarm. When i'm at home sleeping I can turn the siren and flashing off, then when someone breaks into my car they won't know the alarm is going off. I'll still get the page and come out with a bat for their heads.

...and come out with a bat for their heads
a shot gun would be more effective. cuz then you can hold them at gun point till the cops show up plus no assult charge for beating him half to death

make a switch that opens the corcuit for the yel/blk of the main relay... with that the car wont get fuel , and no spark.....
u can also control the hazard fuse under hood....u can also make a bridge on the ECU power cables.... make sur eu hide these buttons on a very simple spot that they wont be able to find.. bc they tend to usually look around.....

Techniq or something like that has a removable steering wheel hub, which you can use to deter the thieft, b-cuz there would be no steering wheel. and appearantly that hub can't be taken off without a key or something, but of course, if they really want it they'll take it, but removable steering wheel would help.

oh and about switches, if you put so much, it doesn't matter how many people know, as long as they "DON'T" know the proper activating switches than they'll have a biatch of a time trying to start it.

i've never liked the idea of starter kill that much, since all the person would have to do it push start it. same goes for the clutch switch, since the clutch is out when push-starting it anyways. i'd say your best bet is the traditional fuel/spark kill switches. interesting thread on the dead bolts

keebler, you don't have to do it taht way, your more less making a closed circuit to the ignition, so that you actually have to turn the key.
so basically i'm saying that you can splice the ignition to a couple of switches that way it the circuit has to be closed in order for you to start.
for example. making a switch and splicing it from the ignition wire so that you can't turn and if you do have the clutch press down you need to flip one of the switches on in order to fire that baby up, that's what i was implying, with the removable steering wheel of course :D

i think a good idea is to make a switch that doesnt do anything and make it in an obvious spot and then have like a button on your car turn the kill switch on and off...such as a rear windshield wiper if you dont have it...or anything you dont need basically...just my .02...

I think the best way is to use a pager alarm with decent range, and add enough kill swtiches to buy you about 5 minutes to get to your car with a baseball bat.

Just remember if they're still moving they can still sue you!

its best to have layers of protection... one thing won't stop a thief, but many things will.... here are some of my ideas...

Door deadbolt
Various kill switches
Auto lock
Club
Alarm w/ ignition cut off
Removeable steering wheel hub
NRA stickers
Car cover w/ lock
Lo-jack
Remove the lock mechanism from the inside so they cant even unlock the door.

It's best not to let anyone know what you have on your car, where you live... the details etc....

My friends and I just avoid parking where it is not safe... or where it can be seen... out of sight, out of mind....

I have alot of secrets most don't know about and am going to keep secret, but a couple of good ones that work around here are Lo-Jack and a steering wheel with quick release. A friend of mines has Lo-Jack and when his type R was stolen they traced it and caught the bastard in the garage red handed stripping his car. Also with the detachable steering wheel it will be another deterent to your car. You just have to carry a steering wheel everywhere you go.

hey unabonger, is Lo-Jack like Boomarang?
i'm from canada, so i've never heard of lo-jack, but i've heard of boomarang
and as for pager alarm
i have a Compustar 2WFMS with attachment
but even the compustar can't reach you sometimes, its pretty weak against bricks sometimes, i'm not sure about the new SS system though. i heard it a real long range though, but yeah
barrier and layers of protection is always good.

I also wanted to replace my door handles with 4-dr civic rear handles (the ones without a key hole) since I have power locks hooked up to my alarm. The dead bolt seems like a really good idea too.

with all of this dead bolt stuff, dont forget to secure your hatchback. i've heard of people breaking in through the back easily.

How about a really good alarm and take out your ECU at night. Simple
