my hood used to open a few weeks ago last time i checked, but it opened right before the lever was going to hit the top.

How it wont open at all.

What should i do? Get a new one? take off the fender and check if there is and loose connections of the cable?

nah, just try to reach under the car. between the radiator and the bumper, and get a hold of the cable, and pull

 

try having somebody put pressure on the front of your hood while you try to pop it

isnt the cable in the black rubber housing?

 

take off your front bumper, then look underneathe the hood n you see where the cable is connected to then just either push or pull it.

 

damn.. taking off the bumper is going to be a PITA

 

Well as long as the cable didnt snap it may have just streched out so another thing you could try is to unbolt the hood release assembly (inside the car) pull it straight out (to take up some slack) and then try to open it. By you pulling it straight out you might be taking up some of the slack and then just pull on the hood release lever like its still mounted and see if that works that worked for me one time when my cable got reaqlly streched out but it also wasnt on a Honda it was on a Jeep Cherokee. Otherwise just try and pull the cable out of the hood release grab onto it with a pliers and pull. It might be that the handle inside the car isnt pulling the cable far enough. But I would try the first idea first then its just 2 bolts pull it outward then pull the handle

 

thanks but i figured out the problem. MY dad pushed down on the hood and it opened.. i cleaned up up, and now it works fine...

 

Mine does that some times and pushing on the hood fixes it.

One time it wouldn't open at all. So I took off the bumper and then manual released the latch from under. Found out the wire had come out of it's bracket thing.

 

how do u take off the bumper with the hood still on?

 

yup pushed down the hood and it worked! thanks! found out that it was dirty so i cleaned out the gunk and it works fine............... for now

 

Same way you take it off with the hood off, hood has no effect on the bumper at all. 2 bolts behind each bumper light, 2 screws in each fender well, 2 bolts on the bottom (not one mine I never put them back) and the yank it and it will come right off.

 

My hood wont open tonight either

I guess I need to get a second person in the morning, but when I get it open, what are common fixes to make sure it keeps openning? Im constantly under my hood
