QUICK>>Diagnose my timing belt problem--sways side to side and....
ok heres the problem on my 95 jdm h22a:
Part 1--
belt moves side to side on the cam gears, maybe 1/8" each way, it just kinda sways and is getting tiny chips taken out of the side of it in the same place in 2 places on the belt. damage so far is minimal. im not worried it will break because of the tiny chips, but just noticing that is is worn down a bit.
Part 2--
the belt also seems looser on the exhaust cam side. when i hold the rpms at 3k then the belt shakes badly from the front to back. when i get above that then it is steady and doesn't shake at all. the car idles smoothly also. i am changing the belt tomorrow in hopes that it will fix the problem.
could this be a bad auto tensioner?, stretched belt?, could the belt be off one tooth?
ANY ideas or comments would be helpful on this..i need answers asap if possible, thanks in advance
*note* i will post this in the tech forum but i just thought someone here could help me out also.
