215/35/18 vs. 225/40/18????
hey guys... the rims i ordered are on backorder and still at the port cuz of the war, i still have time to change it ffrom 215/35/18 to 225/40/18....
what is the difference??? besides the price???
i heard 215's are thinner so i feel bumps harder and greater chance of denting rims... but then i heard 225 are so damn thick that it will make my ride ugly... i dunno... HELP!!!

you won't fit 225 18's, no way
umean that on my 2001 prelude 225 18" wont fit?

what is offset???
i don't really mind about the offset... i saw the rims i'm getting on the same car as mine, 5th gen... it looks perfect(the offset)
but i really want to know what a 225 will be like on my car isntead of the 215...

with 225 and a 2 inch drop you might have rubbing issues depending on your offset. if it's a 48+ offset, you should have minimal rubbing issues. (4+ people in your car, tight turns...etc) i've read that some rub and some don't on 225. some even went 235 but like i said it depends on your offset. i say go with 215 if you don't want any hassles or issues with rubbing. they say the wider the better for handling but it's all on you. btw, whats the offset for the rims you getting?
p.s. you might need to roll your fenders w/ 225

225 will be a little bit heaver.... may not want that with a car that is already heavy. The 215/35 is a reallllly low profile tire... you will feel every single bump in the road. (The 40 is almost the same)

but one more thing... what are the chances of the rims being dented in because the 215's are more thinner??? does having the 225 reduce the risk??? a lot of people have told me that i should just stick to the 215...
ok, well from personal experience......i have a rd 99 lude with 225/40/18 and a 2.5 inch drop and i have no problems....i love mine
btw: u have camber problems? thanks...
225 is wider than 215. If you have poor wheel offset get the 215, but not in 35 series, its way too thin.
BTW, I have 222/35 on my 18x8 wheels(GEN5). They do fit, no rubbing whatsoever
edit: wheel/tire size have nothing to do with camber

those tires sizes aren't even close to each other. In fact, they are 4.9% off from each other. Here's the scoop:
215/35/18
sidewall 3.0 in
diameter 23.9 inches
225/40/18
sidewall 3.5 inches
diameter 25.1 inches
To be closer together, it sounds like you'll either need a 215/35/18 or a 225/35/18. At least those are only 1.2% off from each other, not 4.9% or 1.2 inches of diameter.
