Expo 3: The first Downturn (War sucks) . . .
It is with deepest regrets I have to report than I got a phone call today and due to the War
American Honda Motor Company has halted all national and international "non-essential" travel. Sage was scheduled to come and represent honda and He called me about 15 minutes ago.
He has said they will try and send some raffle prizes and that he sends his deepest regrets. he did say that he is as dissappointed as he is sure everyone else can be. He also did say "there is always next year".
Sorry to bring this bad news guys. At least we had their attention for a minute and enough that they will be there in the future when conditions permit.

I think that this is a trend you are going to see more of.
BPR - who thinks the US is going into full "lock down" mode very shortly.

It's too bad, but a VERY minor sacrifice considering there are thousands of US soldiers currently fighting in Iraq. As much as I would have liked Honda to be there, it is far too petty to complain about it, so personally I don't think it's a big deal (comparatively).

First of all let me say that I support our fighting troops. I also find it intresting that a war on terror turned into a was with Iraq. If this is some how a move against terror then we need to go about our daily lives like terror doesn't exist. Because thats the whole thing behind terrorism is to disrupt things.
Amen to that.
Back to the topic- It really is a bummer, but it's nice that it was a call made from above; having nothing to do with our expo. Next year will be here before we know it, lol...

Well, they are still Sponsoring it. they are just not going to be able to show the support they were hoping to. I think their reason for not comming is very commendable. It shows honda cares for their people.
Yes I am dissapointed, but I am very happy to see them doing it because of this then just a plain old "NO"

CANADA REPRESENT! I'm glad we have no part in this bullshit war! Bush is a wacko, even more so than Wacko Jacko, and THAT is saying something.

I won't comment on your country, since I don't have much negative to say, but people like you make me sick.
It's too bad Honda can't come, but they ARE a sponsor and will be back next year, I'm sure.
Political opinions should be left off this baord since they will differ greatly among all of our members. We should have the repsct for those who are out there fighting for our country, whether we feel it is right or wrong. Whether or not I agree with what is going on in the Middle East, I have respect and know that what is going on over there is serious. having a younger relative over there really helps you put many things in perspective, and is truly an action worth commending, whether or not we agree with why they are there.
I''m left with a quote my father once gave me.."political opinions are like a33holes, everyone has one"
So lets keep this thread on topic.
At least Honda said next year. Thats always a great sign. Who knows, next year may end up being bigger than this years. Although this expo is being run so well.
to Asahi for putting this together, and I'm leaving with another quote we have here in Chicago for our beloved Cubs
"Just wait til next year"

I fail to see how a war in the Middle East puts the American arm of a Japanese automobile company in any more danger than it already is (which is to say, almost none).
Kind of like saying you don't feel like going to the gym because of the war.
Edit - they can do whatever they want; what I will remember is Trey actually getting them ready to go in the first place.
