Default type r header on ef

how well will a jdm oem 4-1 header fit on a cr-x with a b16? do you need to modify the crossmember?

You will have to notch the front crossmember considerably or buy an aftermarket unit that has clearance for a 4-1 header. As well the ground clearance with the 4-1 header on a b16 in an ef is going to be bad and therefore the header will be prone to damage from scraping and bumps from the road below.

Yep. I hope your car isn't too low, and yes you will need to modify the cross member.

a big reason why im going to the b18c5 is that i need a new transmission and i want a newer motor. the b18c5 swaps come with a LSD tranny which is also a plus and they have less miles and are newer.

make or buy a skidplate , btw forget hydro tranny in a ef cable b16 w/ a quaife or phantom is the only way 2 go

also u got a nice setup screw the b18c5 its time to find a Ls block and start buildin that ish up , u already basically have everything u need build the ls motor use the b16 tranny and swap the head ,manifold and fuel system over thats what i would do alot cheaper also

get a dc 4-2-1 1-piece header cause a 4-1 will scrap.

I guess, a typer r swap is gonna cost ya though . Your payin 4 a tranny u cant use , a ecu u cant use . Im running a b18c5 now im happy w/ it but i really miss my ls/vtec. As stated b4 if u build it right it will be reliable. U already have all good parts on your b16 build up an ls and swap all that ish over . Just my 2 cents

Very true, if your car is lowered at all with the DC 4-1 have fun, I'm very glad I sold mine before anything happened.

what are you talking about? i can use the tranny AND the ecu. im switching COMPLETELY over to a b18c5 setup, which means im switching to hydro, and im putting in a USDM type r guage cluster and i'm going to put spoon cam gears and a hondata system on the set up when i get it put in as well. its going to be bad ***

yeah but your also gonna have to get the cable to hydro conversion kit from hasport which is gonna cost you 200-300? correct me if im wrong, and also the ecu, your going to have to get the obd0 to obd1 harness which is about 175?, and about that ITR gauge cluster..rewiring and the VSS and some other **** is involved that you have to use..man its not worth it, but if you have all that time and if you "THINK" you can do it go ahead..

...or a 96-97 JDM 4-2-1 ITR header. Still has a 2.5 collector and doesn't hang as low as the 4-1. Great clearance for an EF/ED. mine.

i wouldnt do that 2 to much extra work , the hondata would be nice but unnessesary . Cable b16 tranny w/ a aftermarket lsd is the way to go, get a non obd pr3 get it reprogramed , run a vafc and some slicks your goin 12's . Also if a ls/vtec is out of the question how about building a gsr shortblock and slappin your b16 head on it . It would be the same if not better as a b18c5. Imjust tryin to help ya go faster 4 less $$$$

ok - im going to be open minded
heres the thing- my tranny's 3rd gear grinds when i race. how costly would that be to fix, or is it cheaper to get a new one. i also want LSD.
if i DO spend my money on my gen 1 b16, will it be reliable enough to last a while (like YEARS) or will i blow it. next month i'll have like 2000-2500 saved up for my car. what all could i get to make my current set up bad ***?

i am right now working on the definite answer to replacing 3rd gear and synchronizer set in s1 tranny with 91 integra ls bits....won't be too cheap but slip in that quaife at the same time
