I remember what I wanted to post originally now. I have seen this WRX on campus a lot lately. It is loud like it has a very loud exhaust system on it. Almost like he doesn't have an exhaust. You can hear his idle very clearly through the exaust sound know what i mean? Kinda like the sound of a drag car. It has the stock muffler on it but I'm pretty sure it can't be connected the way the car sounds and I never checked the piping under it to see what was going on. I don't think he is running an open header cause you guys make it sound like it's deafening but I've only heard the car traveling about 10mph. I figure maybe he has the exhaust open ended after the cat. Anyone ever hear of this before?

A year a so ago I was autocrossing with a WRX. The owner and I was talking and I commented on how I like the sound of his WRX. He said he is running a cat back straight pipe. In other words, no muffler. What he said is that since the exhaust gases have to spin the turbo, there is less energy coming down. Made sense. I do remember seeing some racing Porcshe's with a big turbo hanging off the rear end with no muffler and a very short exhaust. Maybe same concept.

but he's not using that anymore....but he's got other stuff going on
