Default How do I remove the bushings on......

my rear control arms? I don't wanna take off my rear control arms because I'm afraid I'll break the bolt. I broke the bold that connects my strut to my control arm today. The bolt was rusted in the bushing and I had to rip the gutts out. Now I just have this hole w/ the sleeve of the old bushing still stuck in there. I need to find some kind of press. Any suggestions? I tried hammering it out and all of that. Help!!!!!

When I took the shock bushings off of my Wagon, I had to drill holes in the bushings until I could pull them out.

removing bushings is the most annoying thing in the world, you have to take the arms off, and when you get it off it will take you forever to pull the old bushing out, i've tried torch, drill, hammer you name it, and it took like three days to install four bushings

A hydraulic press works best. Most machine shops have them and
will charge next to nothing to do it for you.
You just gotta take the part to them.
If you are lucky enough to have your own press, do itcha damn self.

Thanks Guys. Man, it looks like my civic will be going to the shop. I don't wanna risk breaking another bolt taking off the control arm. Since my car is old, it has a lot of corrosion on the bolts. Man, I wish I had another car so I could just work on this one.

Yes, Those bolts are always a bitch. I broke just about every one getting the rear LCA's off my 92 hatch. I spent an entire weekend on my back with a recripocating saw cutting the damn things off. Now that i have the poly bushings on i love them but i will never never never do it myself again. The $400 a local shop was asking to do them doesn't seem like a lot now that i know whats involved.
