Default Me vs buying i/c

Ive got 2 cores that would make a 16x8x4 i/c(i already have them together)
as for endtanks, well i have no welding equip or experience so i was going to do some jb weld sorta deal. i had it together and was test fitting , well more like test FORCING and i broke one of the endtanks! it probably wouldve worked fine but since i didnt have my piping exactly right , i broke it(yeah i like my wheaties )
Ive called around here and NO one makes endtanks! wtf!
SO, should I go for an NEW i/c(which i was going to do eventually) or should I still plug away with trying to get some endtanks?
*sigh*
custom is great unless you have to REALLY do something totally custom and dont have the proper tools/skills for it. arg

Don't do JB weld man, you'll just be pissed when it cracks apart.

Go for one of the PWRs or something from Earl. Good stuff for cheap.

why don't you wanna buy one first thing.
Is it money or do you wanna learn how to make an intercooler.

If it's in the pursuit of do it yourself know how then more power to you.
If it's just cuz your being a tightwad then that is no excuse. There are too many intercooler options available to you not to just buy a working unit and be done with it IMO.

My options would be:
cheap - starion FMIC
Excellent quality unit -PWR

I'm down for DIY stuff. It's fun and sometimes I come up with cool ****.
Anyway, why not try to make your endtanks out of fiberglass and then just epoxy them to the cores.

you said they were 16x8x4 so first make some forms to make the shape of the endtanks. Take some 1/2 plywood or something and make a couple of boxes with no top or bottom that are a little bigger than the IC ends (8x4). than get a peice of tube a couple inches long that your silicone fitting could go over. Now secure them together so the inlet (round part) is a few inches away from the rectangle end (ducttape, hot glue, bondo, whatever.

now you could cover it with streched cloth and "dope" it up with fiberglass resin and then do a couple of fiberglass cloth layers on top for strength.

take a tube of fabric that streches in all directions, sweatshift material works. I was even thinking you could take a sock and put one end of your form in the toe of it then just tie it tight and soak it in fiberglass resin. after the fiberglass shell is strong rip out the form so it doesn't restrict air flow or cause turbulance.

this would be cheap, give you the flow of a curvy cast endtank, and be nice and messy. just an idea.
